This course is for experienced freedivers looking to explore spearfishing, if you already have an AIDA 2 or equivalent qualification and you’re comfortable freediving in open water, this is the course for you.

This one-day spearfishing course is designed to fast-track you into spearfishing without repeating freediving training.

You will have access to all the latest equipment provided by Spearfishing UK, included in the price. The course runs for 1 day and is ran by Aida Master Instructor Oli Cacioppo from Delhpy Pool Dive Centre in Cornwall.

Discover spearfishing in Cornwall running from April through October, this course offers an extraordinary opportunity to explore the stunning Cornish coastline. Participants will learn to identify and hunt a variety of fish species such as Bass, Pollack, Mullet, Flatfish and to forage for edible seaweeds, shellfish, and other marine delicacies Such as Lobsters, Brown crab spider crab, scallops and muscles.

Our courses are ran by expert underwater foragers and spear fishers, you’ll gain a comprehensive understanding of the local marine ecosystem. The course includes thorough training on hunting techniques, safety measures, animal behaviour. You’ll learn the ecological importance of marine habitats, ensuring your practices adhere to the local fisheries laws and can contribute to conservation efforts.

Participants will engage in both classroom instruction and hands-on fieldwork, alternating between theoretical knowledge and practical application. The beautiful underwater landscapes of Cornwall provide a picturesque backdrop for your foraging adventures.

What you need to bring/what is supplied:

Your course fee covers all equipment, pool hire, certification fees, and in-water training.

To take part in the Spearfishing for Competent Freedivers – One Day Course, you must meet all of the following requirements:

  • Hold AIDA 2 Freediver certification or equivalent
  • Be a competent, confident freediver in open water
  • Be able to freedive safely without coaching or assistance
  • Have prior experience diving in open water conditions
  • Be comfortable managing your own equipment in the water
  • Be physically fit and confident in the sea

IF YOU ARE NOT A COMPETENT FREEDIVER YOU MUST COMPLETE A COURSE PRIOR TO THIS BOOKING.

All the equipment is provided for the course – however if you have any gear already that you would like to use, such as a mask, snorkel or fins then please bring it with you.

Please bring food, a towel and money for parking. There are facilities nearby such as a Café and toilets.

You will need to sign a health declaration form and safety waiver which we will send out before the course in case there are any medical issues that require a doctor’s sign off before the course.

Catching fish on the day is not guaranteed so please do not turn up expecting to come away with fish or crustaceans – the primary function of this course is to enable you to hunt and dive safely and progress your skills to a level you are comfortable with so you can go away and hunt effectively.

The cancellation time for booking a course is 21 days before, if you chose to cancel within 21 days from the start of the course we cannot refund you. If you wish to change the date this time frame also applies, as we cannot run a course with less than 2 people it is unfair on other students to have their course cancelled by someone else changing their preferred date so please bear this in mind when booking a course. If a change in date is requested within 21 days from the start date we will try our best to reschedule bookings if possible depending on how full the course is this may not always be possible.
