Perfect for beginners or those with some basic experience who want the next level of training and freediving knowledge that comes with doing an AIDA freediving course and spending more time with the instructors.

Your course will be taught by Aida master instructor Oli Cacioppo and national spearfishing champion Matt Hill, this immersive experience encompasses freediving certification, species ID, hunting technique, and a full-day adventure.

All the equipment is provided within the course price by Spearfishing UK, the course is based out of Delphy Pool Freediving Centre in Cornwall. Max group of 4 divers.

Across the three days, you’ll complete your AIDA 1 & AIDA 2 Freediving Certifications while learning how to identify, harvest and interact with marine life in the Cornish Ocean responsibly. The course places strong emphasis on breath-hold technique, dive planning, safety, and ethical foraging practices, giving you the skills to explore the underwater world with confidence and respect.

Time in the sea allows you to put theory into practice, developing calm, controlled dives and a deeper understanding of Cornwall’s marine environment.

Throughout the course, you’ll enjoy full access to Delphy Pool’s premium facilities, including hot showers, a dedicated classroom space and our wood-fired hot tub – the perfect place to unwind and reflect after a day in the water.

Day 1:

Freediving Basics:

Dive into the fundamentals of freediving, covering theory, breath-hold techniques, and equipment usage.

AIDA 1 Certification:

Work towards achieving your AIDA 1 qualification, marking the beginning of your freediving journey.

Equipment Mastery:

Learn the essentials of freediving and spearfishing equipment and its setup for optimal performance.

Breath-Hold Techniques:

Develop crucial breath-hold skills, setting the foundation for underwater dives.

Day 2:

Advanced Freediving Techniques:

Progress to more advanced freediving techniques, including equalization, buddy rescue, and dive planning.

AIDA 2 Certification:

Attain your AIDA 1 & 2 qualification, demonstrating proficiency in essential freediving skills.

Advanced Foraging Theory:

Dive into foraging & spearfishing theory, covering species ID, hunting approach, ethics and safety considerations.

Bottom Time Mastery:

Understand the concept of bottom time, crucial for successful and safe spearfishing & foraging experiences.

Day 3:

Embark on a full-day expedition, applying the skills acquired over the previous two days.

Put into practice your freediving training in order to hunt successfully on the bottom whilst holding your breath and stalk your target in shallow water from the surface.

Optional Extras:

Enjoy the added thrill of a boat trip to enhance the experience. boats is additional  £35-£45 (subject to fair weather and tide conditions) to be paid on the day.

Cook Up: Cap off the course with an optional cook-up of the catch, either on the beach or at Delphy, while relaxing in the hot tub. time dependent.

What you need to bring/what is supplied:

All the equipment is provided for the course – however if you have any gear already that you would like to use, such as a mask, snorkel or fins then please bring it with you.

Please bring food, a towel and money for parking. There are facilities nearby such as a Café and toilets.

Disclaimer*

You will need to sign a health declaration form and safety waiver which we will send out before the course in case there are any medical issues that require a doctor’s sign off before the course.

Catching fish on the day is not guaranteed so please do not turn up expecting to come away with fish or crustaceans – the primary function of this course is to enable you to hunt and dive safely and progress your skills to a level you are comfortable with so you can go away and hunt effectively.

The cancellation time for booking a course is 21 days before, if you chose to cancel within 21 days from the start of the course we cannot refund you. If you wish to change the date this time frame also applies, as we cannot run a course with less than 2 people it is unfair on other students to have their course cancelled by someone else changing their preferred date so please bear this in mind when booking a course. If a change in date is requested within 21 days from the start date we will try our best to reschedule bookings if possible depending on how full the course is this may not always be possible.
