Correct Breathing for Spearfishing

Freediving and spearfishing are both sports that rely on breath hold diving. Freediving is a breath hold sport that encompasses snorkelling, underwater filming and photography, marine conservation diving, and competitive freediving. Spearfishing is a breath hold sport that combines freediving and hunting/gathering.

It is a myth that all freedivers push their limits and dive deep. Most freedivers dive less than ten metres, and use their skills to explore the underwater world. When people freedive to advance their depth, then they always do so with multiple safety systems in place, from the use of underwater buddies, to being tethered to a retrievable line.

Many world record holding freedivers are also accomplished spearfishers, using their freediving skills to make their hunting more effective. The better your freediving technique is, the easier your hunting will be.
